If you have a special someone in your life, or TWO very special someones–
Victoria’s Secret is raising the stakes this year, by unveiling two Fantasy Bras this holiday season, worth $2 million dollars, each.

This is the first time the retailer has released two different Fantasy Bras in one year.

Models, Alessandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima will strut their stuff wearing the extravagant bras during the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which airs December 9th on the CBS Television Network.

Ambrosio reportedly explained the jeweled lingerie as a $2 million piece of art.

Each piece is strung together with 18K gold.  They’re adorned with over 16,000 handset precious gems, including rubies, diamonds, and sapphires.  The bras are also designed exclusively for Victoria Secret by world-renowned jeweler, Mouawad according to a company statement.

The fantasy bra was first introduced in 1996 as the “Million Dollar Miracle Bra” featuring over 100 carats of diamonds.  However, prices have skyrocketed since then, as they became even more extravagant.

Sign of the booming economy?

The most expensive Fantasy Bra and panty set ever made was released in 2000 priced at $15 million.  That coincides with the strong economy at the time, and peak of the tech bubble.

It was modeled by supermodel Giselle Bundchen and holds the World Record for the most expensive lingerie design ever made.  The stunner was made of red satin and featured of over 1,300 stones including 300 carats of Thai rubies.

If you think this is just a publicity stunt Victoria Secret pulls every year, the bras are really for sale via special order.

My question is, who buys them?

Do you consider these bejeweled bras as a piece of art, or a waste of money?
