The police in Mountain View, California, pulled over a Google self-driving car for driving too slowly.
The police department said an officer “noticed traffic backing up behind a slow-moving car in the eastbound lane”. The car was traveling at 24mph in a 35mph zone. If we were talking about south Florida, other drivers would have made sure the driver-
less car knew it was going too slowly by giving no one the finger.
An accident report filed recently cited the driver-less cars as being “over-cautious and really spooky.”
“The officer stopped the car and made contact with the operators to learn more about how it was choosing speeds and to educate the operators about impeding traffic.” The operators, housed in a call center in Bangalore, India we’re quick to offer advice.
‘Bob’, who answered their call said “Try turning off the car off and starting it up again and see if that fixes the problem.”
