file0001635077857Fall slowly crept past summer and now the cooler weather is here. It is a pleasant time of year to have outdoor parties and indoor gatherings. Light a fire and set the scene with a few good fall snacks to celebrate the season.

Pumpkin Parade

Pumpkin picking is a favorite fall pastime. It is fun to wander in a field and find your ideal pumpkin. While they look great displayed on the porch, they are even better when you incorporate them into fall recipes, such as pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread and pumpkin soup. Make sure to bake the pumpkin seeds, sprinkled with a bit of sea salt, to nosh on while the party gets started.

An Apple a Day

While you’re out picking pumpkins, make sure to find a local apple orchard and pick up a bushel or two. Apple pie, baked apples and apple brown Betty are all comforting desserts at a fall gathering. Baked apples with a dash of water, cinnamon and nutmeg, fill the house with a wonderful aroma.

Getting Cheesy

While cheese might start to look sketchy at a summer party, fall is the perfect weather for serving hard and soft cheeses with crackers. Try brie on a whole wheat cracker, cheddar on multi-grain crackers or some crunchy CheeseSticks with no preparation required.

Add a Glass of Wine

Often vineyards are located right near farms where you can go pumpkin and apple picking. Stop in, taste a few types of wine and bring a bottle home to enjoy with your fave fall dishes. After all, any party is better when you add libations. If you can’t get to the vineyard, consider trying a high end boxed wine, such as red Malbec from Black Box.
