I heard someone call a child a “lil nigga.”
Little did he know he was the littlest nigga of them all.
He was a child himself, Black at that.
I’m so perturbed and disgusted by this term being used so often & so lightly
When it has taken a strong and mighty people to overcome this derogatory label
For some of you it may seem like a mystical fable
Nor do you understand the depth or the bloodshed over this word
A word used to demean our people; put them down & make them feel small
So that no matter how tall you stand, or the tower of spiritual strength inside
Its purpose was to chop you down, brick by brick, and destroy you floor by floor
Yet so many our children have ignored the ignorance that has passed thru
Generation, after generation; now using the word as a toy
Do you know how many of your grandparents, great & great-greats
Have tried to destroy the 6 lil letters that was glued to them?
Its’ purpose to ridicule; tear them down psychologically so they’d feel even more-
Out of place in this new world they had to endure?
Six lil’ letters like 6 lil’ rats stuck in a glue trap far away from who they really are;
Our ancestors peeled layer by layer back which created wounds and deep scars
Sometimes with their skin having to be peeled off to get “nigger” off & rid themselves of this hatred & scoffing
Yet this new generation uses it so lightly, simple, and flighty;
A term of endearment used to greet a friend
“What up my nigga”
“You know you my nigga”
“What these niggaz -with a z- up to?”
“I’m holding it down my niggah-with an h.”
With no knowledge or thought of where and why the word derived
Thinking it’s fun, cool, and alright
But become angry and belligerent when someone from another race
Calls you a nigga and uses it; we get “out of pocket” and “out of place”
The word isn’t special, cute, or fun
No matter how its spelled it shows you how truly dumb & ignorant we’ve really become
The saddest part is they’ve accomplished and have won
Are you a lil nigga?
Are we lil niggas?
Does being black mean to you being hateful, stupid, black-balled, ugly, or void of feeling?
Was it in vain all the great leaders who fought so hard for our people to be free?
Are we in bondage to ourselves by this word, mentally?
Small, tiny, minute, simple, ignorant, lacking knowledge, and exemplifying all they said your
Great-great-grandparents, grandparents were-is that our truth?
Is a nigga you? If not, this word needs to killed & shot!
Have we adopted a legacy that’s not your own?
Have you accepted a false reality of who you are?
Let’s think about the next time we want to use nigga, or not?
Try saying- queen, king, brother, sister, or friend in its place.
It feels and sounds a lot better than nigger, niggah, niggaz which doesn’t represent the Black race.

“Thank you Keba Vanterpool for the discussion & assistance in researching origin of the word Nigger.”
NEGUS (n): Negaste. Niggers. Nigga.
A unique derivative of an ancient title. NEGUS (n) is “King” a term originated from Abyssinia. A king- used as a title of the sovereign of Ethiopia. This term is originated by its native Ethiopian Amharic language.
Since the creation of the title NEGUS (n) has been used to identify but defined differently to physiologically change the minds of captive Africans to re think of themselves as someone less than whom they were. Many western names like Negus originate from religious texts like the bible.
Often these names relate to a religious expression such as “Worthy of praise”. NEGUS NEGASTE (King of Kings) Prayer A prayer of the Negus Negaste (i.e. King of Kings):
“May the Lord of Heaven make strong my Kingdom! And as he has this day conquered for me my enemy may he conquer for me where so ever I go … (I will rule) the people with righteousness and justice, and will not oppress them.”

After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.” But Abram said, “O Lord God, what will you give me, for I continue childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” And Abram said, “Behold, you have given me no offspring, and a member of my household will be my heir.” And behold, the word of the Lord came to him: “This man shall not be your heir; your very own son shall be your heir.” And he brought him outside and said, “Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” …
