Are you in your 20’s and thinking about whether you should embark on a search for your soul mate, settle down or hold onto your freedom? While only you have the answer to the question, here’s a few reason why you should stay single – or at least for the time being.

#1: Career

You can move to a new city, in a new country to pursue a better job without worrying about what your partner will think or where the relationship will go. Any decision will be yours to make and you’ll have to bear any consequences on your own.

#2: Travel

If you’re in a committed relationship, you have to work around each others’ schedule in order to travel together. If you’re single, you can take the opportunity to travel and explore the world on your own. Learn a new language, a new culture and lead a different way of life.

#3: Build Friendships

Often times when you’re in a relationship, you are unable to maintain or build new friendships since your focus will be building and maintaining your relationship with your partner. Being single, you can spend as much time with your friends without feeling guilty. You can also go out and exchange numbers with anyone, anytime and anywhere without being judged.

#4: Not Sharing

This is an extremely selfish way of thinking but you’re no longer obligated to share anything. You don’t have to share your favorite food, snacks, your tiny bed, and your six-pack will remain untouched in the fridge.

#5: Saving Money

You can save more money on literally everything. Now you don’t have to be worried about what gift you’re going to get for your anniversary, valentine’s day, birthday, Christmas, etc. You can save up money for future investments or buy that thing you’ve always wanted as a reward.

#6: No Compromises

For a relationship to work, compromises have to be made. It’s always about give and take. It’s tough to compromise your principles and values for another person. You don’t have to waste time and effort arguing about why your partner should or shouldn’t do something. You don’t have to shave if you don’t feel like it and there is no pressure to look good in front of your partner and his/her friends or family.

#7: Personal Growth

When you’re in a relationship you tend to lose yourself, worrying more about your partner instead of your needs. Now, you can figure out what you want in life and understand yourself better. You need independent happiness before you’re in a relationship and it’s a lot faster to learn and grow on your own.

Last but not least,

#8: You Can Do Whatever the F*** You Want

You no longer have to explain your actions – you can go anywhere you want, do anything you want, at any given moment.

Being single doesn’t work for everyone and sometimes it’s better for some to be in a relationship where two people can grow together. The grass is always greener on the other side, right?
